It does NOT stop "addiction", even if it were metabolized.... and is only added to the buprenorphine to deter IV use because it can cause withdrawal in some users who try IV. Suboxone treatment is a wonderful addition to our medication "arsenal" against opiate addiction...however it is not a replacement for methadone treatment.
