There are many kinds or names of opiate drugs such as heroin, morphine, oxycontin, vicodin and Tylenol and these are very popular to all people who are engage with these. Opiates are derived from opium meaning there are all addictive that is why there are a lot of people who suffering an opiate addiction.
Opiates are drugs comes from a sap of an opium poppy plant( Papaver somniferum L) , this drug is subdivided into two types which are natural opiates and synthetic or semi-synthetic opiates, each is used as a medicine at the same time causes adverse effects. Natural opiate is morphine and examples of synthetic opiates are codeine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone. These drugs are widely used for its medicinal benefits but there must be supervision when taking it.
People suffering from intense pain, diarrhea, and breathing difficulties, finds comfort when using opiates as a pain reliever and a pleasure giver, but on the other side of the drug, it causes serious health problems that any users cannot imagine of.
Here are the following adverse effects of opiates, some of them are considered minimal, and some are severe and life-threatening. Minimal side effects of opiates are the following; constipation or sullen bowel movement and muscle spasm, skin allergies (itching, scabies, swelling, rashes), blurred and cloudy night and day vision, unrestrained lethargy or sleepiness, dependence on the drugs, anxiety and depression, loss of concentration, breathing difficulties, loss of appetite, nausea, spewing, fatigue, and delusion.
Tolerance happens when the brain becomes addicted to obtain opiates regularly. And to have a better effect, people who are addicted are needed to have a good amount of opiate drugs for them to acquire a great effect of euphoric. On the other hand, withdrawal usually occurs four to six hours after the last dose is taken when a person is unexpectedly deprived of the drug. When a person deprive with it, the brain is caught off balance like anxiety, pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea which can vary in severity depends on the bad habits of this drug.
Opiate addiction also has serious effects of his/ her lifestyle. Person who is a drug addict might lose his/her important things in life like families, friends and other interpersonal relationship. Any member of the family will give support or to give a medication to the addicted person but it’s too late rather. The best way to do is to bring him/her to the rehabilitation center for him to realize the bad habits he has done for the entire life. In a rehabilitation center drug addict people are being recognized and pleased for their affliction and they provided insights for them to move on and open their mind into realization.
People must be aware on facts about opiates because this kind of drug is just like a two sided coin, it brings good benefits when properly used, on the other side, it may cause serious conditions that ,may lead to death. There are expected physical and psychological effects based on the amount taken and so people should use it in the best possible way.
